When we lived at my folks house in Lake Oswego during the remodel I took advantage of their proximity to the Tualatin River Refuge to pop over for sunrise. This am was covered in dense fog with the sun just peaking through.

  • Earful

    Earful

Dog sitting my parents pup Gilli. She's a bit of a moody cat dog, but I love her and her long tufts of ear hair.

  • Eternal sunshine

    Eternal sunshine

I photographed this in our front yard first thing the morning with a tripod. I like that it looks like a studio shot with the black backdrop created by the low light.

  • Follow the leader

Again at Tualatin River Refuge. I was agog that Pelicans came to the large pond there. I'd never watched a large group of Pellies up close before, their group behavior is mesmerizing.

  • The untrusting one

    The untrusting one

Same place, different day. A more zoomed out shot of the larger group while they do their feeding frenzy dip. Apparently they move in big packs to herd the fish so that they can get easy pickins when they dunk.

  • Pro Soak

    Pro Soak

Visiting Claire and John in sunny so cal. I think this day was actually quite cloudy but we had to play up the vibes. Old roomies reunited and natch model vibes ensue.

  • Karwendel's cradle

    Karwendel's cradle

In phase one of the honeymoon we did our hut-hut backpacking in Austria's Karwendel Alps. The hike was so much more grueling than we imagined, but definitely at least as beautiful. I found that all of my fave shots of the landscapes included a human. In turns out a subject helps anchor vast expanses. I love the multiple layers especially in this one.

  • Not beach still bask

    Not beach still bask

Part three of the honeymoon in Croatia. This was on the island of Vis, our fave of the bunch. I love a Huey, an un posed moment, she just looked over to see me snapping pics, and of course the contrast between the blue sea and white rocks.

  • Sunshine agnostic

    Sunshine agnostic

I took photos for a friend's networking event (Liv!) and although Lennox wasn't doing too many business lunches she was definitely connecting. The bright background and the food on the ear really bring this one together for me.

  • Soft hello

    Soft hello

Emo Nite probably accounts for at least a third of the photos I take annually so a few faves always make their way in. Guests always provide a little extra fun and excitement, how hard will they be to shoot? How will the crowd react? I love this performer soaking it up in the crowd with the motion and light behind them giving it an aura of frozen time.

  • lil Snacky

    lil Snacky

Just a lucky spot in the front yard one morning. The colors, the detail, the fuzz, they all get me drooly.

  • Pssst

    Pssst

The second Emo Nite shot. I've said this before but finding intimacy in a party is a real fave. These two look like they could be sharing a private moment despite being right in the middle of the frothing crowd. The action in their hands, crinkles in the eyes and contrast of the tattoos really make it for me.

  • Town crier

    Town crier

Taken somewhere outside of black butte. Satisfying because I tracked this bird, first by call, eventually by sight and to several locations before it struck a suitable pose. I love the crispness of detail, the gradient of the sky and contrast of the blue and greens and yellow.

  • In flight

    In flight

From “Hanford Howl” an ultimate tournament in Washington. Bootsy is letting his paper plane fly, the joy, body poetry and costume all really come together here to make me so so happy. Also, the motion of the finger bend post throw is immaculate.

  • Bad neighbors

    Bad neighbors

I love this so much. The squirrel and Northern Flicker giving each other some serious stink eye. The N. Flicker has returned annually to the telephone pole hole to raise it’s young. The squirrel is a new resident this year and I don’t think his neighbor is stoked at all the new ruckus.

  • Friendly motivation

    Friendly motivation

From Tassie’s annual bike bday party. 38, pick up weight? The hole in Dorsey’s crouch is the real icing on the cake here

  • Squeeze bros

    Squeeze bros

From my bachelor party in Grand Staircase Escalante. The textures and colors feel sublime, despite the extremely close quarters.

  • Coordinated fit

    Coordinated fit

I did a shoot for bodymechanix, a Pilates studio down the road. This isn’t the most incredible photo I’ve ever taken, but it was a challenging indoor shoot with constantly changing lightning needs and lots of movement. I felt proud that I made it work and this is one of my faves from the shoot. Everyone’s hands as d bodies in the same position, with the shallow depth of field give the photo a good feeling of tension, you can feel the work being done.
